Schoeman the hero at Kitzbuehel World Triathlon Series.

Henri Schoeman  used his great swim and light 57 kg frame to finished a fantastic  4th at the Kitzbuehel Mountain triathlon this weekend. He, as usual, came out of the water in the top 5 and held onto  this position all the way up the mountain on the bike to secure 4 th place. His best  result ever and this  makes SA proud to now have two athletes in the top 15 ranking. Henri shoots up to 12th place with this result.

Richard Murray struggled with his heavier bodyweight and the altitude but held onto a steady 21st place in a race which favoured the light bodied athletes. He said afterwards that he left his lungs on the mountain having averaged 440 watts  on the climb. Nevertheless the lighter bodied athletes all had a good day. Richard maintains his overall 4 th ranking in the series.

Next is the very fast sprint Race in Hamburg in two weeks’ time  where a big contingence of SA athletes will compete, both as individuals and in a team event . Richard Murray  will be there to defend his 2012 title and Henri Schoeman, Kate Roberts and Gillian Saunders will also be racing
